A LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

I am so excited to be able to introduce Flickr Magazine and all the wonderful things about it. We began this journey with our first issue released in May 2023. Our team worked so hard to be able to produce an entertaining, inclusive and informative magazine for all our independent film lovers out there!

I have loved magazines for as long as I can remember and being able to merge my love for flicking through the pages and my love for all things film into one is a dream. I feel incredibly honored to be sitting here right now writing this editors letter, it feels unreal!

My love for these films began when I first watched 'The Virgin Suicides'. Released in the year of 2000 this movie captured everything a film should be. With a story of love, terror, death and memory, it really does have it all. It is a thriller film at heart, yet has elements for all different tastes to enjoy. The film became so memorable to me as it won MTV Movie Award Best New Film-maker, I would 100% recommend this to any of your friends who are unfamiliar with the independent film industry as I am sure this would change their mind. I am so lucky to be able to say in our recent Issue of June 2023 we were able to interview the beloved Sofia Coppolo who directed this film; the beautiful American director and actor talks us  through the way she made her name in fame and worked her way up to winning a Golden Globe Award.

Flickr is about creativity and exploring those thoughts and feelings that we may have when we watch a film. Our passion is expressed through our writing as we expand on interviews and take a deep dive into reviews. Within our issues we aim to provide a further insight into every ones current favourite films but also take a look back into the history of independent films to understand where it all truly began.

I can't wait for all of you to see the things Flickr is going to bring, don't forget to stay tuned for Issue 3.

It isn't one you'll want to miss.
